Team Building Help Thread

Post by Latios on Fri Nov 16, 2007 10:22 pm

Having trouble making a team, or just a tough time battling in general?

Well, ask any and all questions about teams here, I'll do my best to answer them as soon as I can.

My battle rate is about 60-40 uber due to the anything goes rules here at wwpl, so I have good experience with all types of battles.

Ask away, anyone can respond, but if you want someone to directly answer your question, put "@ name" at the beginning of your message

i need a good moveset for a perfect attack aerodactyl. so far i'm gonna try to get it Crunch, Earthquake, Stone Edge, and Agility.
is this a good one, or do you know anything better?

Maybe Thunder Fang for Skarmory and water pokemon?

Of coarse there is always Ice Fang, Earthquake, Dragon claw and Roost as a move set or possible replacement moves.

roost isnt useful on a pokemon trained in attack and speed. since it will most likely die in one hit anyway. i know that much.

why agility? If you know your pkmn is susceptable ohkos then i dont see the benefit of having a stat-boosting move. Unless you have a focus sash or were planning to use it to counter boosters like ninjask (you would still be open to quick attack type moves). Personally, i'd either boost aerodactyl's speed with another pokemon, or give it a choice sash and let it go off the bat. Dragon claw is a good move, it hits all types and while it isnt going to cross up anyone, it is a stable move you can use to get some definite damage if people plan on switching to escape your earthquake.

Aerodactyl@Life Orb
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake
-Ice Fang/Crunch
-Thunder Fang

That's the moveset I would choose for Aerodactyl.Agility on Aerodactly is useless because it already has good speed and it has a low defense so you'll probably be dead after you use it.Ice Fang is for those dragons that can kill you easy and Thunder Fang is for water pokemon like starmie,Life Orb to boost your attack so you can 1HKO most pokemon.

If your opponent only uses sweepers, however against a defence pokemon, roost can be handy to get out the second/ third attack.

Check the Ttar thread for my oppinion about it.

A bit too physical, Absol could be an Unbreon (S/P?) IMO.

Absol: http://pokemon.marriland.com/diamond_pearl/pokedex/absol
Umbreon: http://pokemon.marriland.com/diamond_pearl/pokedex/umbreon

Umbreon is a defensive pokemon, Absol is an offensive pokemon.
A move-set I like on Umbreon is:

Protect (TM).
Swagger (TM).
Psych-Up (TM).
Baton-Pass (egg).

This move-set will give Umbreon 3 different roles:
Staller/ Wall (protect).
Annoyer (Swagger, Protect).
Support/ Booster (Swagger > Psych-up > Baton-Pass).

personally, I'd switch psych up with curse

its a naturally slow pokemon, so its speed dosent matter much anyway, and the def boost does wonders against ninjask boosting teams

i usually throw toxic in with my walls too as a last ditch when they come back into battle after a previous boost. Just to get a little edge on the next poke. It helps with stalling too <_<

IMO Toxic can be bad for stalling because of Guts pokemon.

As for Curse, I usually pair Swagger with Psych-up, also against another booster Psych-up will give you all of there stat boosts as well (also Curse will slow the pokemon after BP, ie a FS Weavile).

Re: Team Building Help Thread

Post by coldheart on Thu Jun 26, 2008 1:36 pm

Iím trying to build a hail team, but I need help

Hereís what Iíve got so far

Abomasnow @ Leftovers

252 HP 126 SpDef 126 Def Calm

Leech Seed

Protect

Substitute

Ingrain

This actually works pretty well, especially against starters who use spikes. But not against toxic or anything that changes the weatherÖ

Walrein @ Leftovers

252 HP 126 SpDef 126 Def Impish

Curse

Encore

Protect

Crunch

This needs work. With ice body, itís supposed to act kinda like abomasnow. Encore is there to work with cloyster, but I havenít got it to work so far.

Cloyster @ Grip Claw

252 HP 252 Def Bold

Whirlpool

Spikes

Rapid Spin

Protect

Physical Wall, Spinner, and spikes. Oh, and whirlpool to trap. Then I could switch and use encore, or whatever works.

Glaceon @ Wise Glasses

200 HP 200 SpDef 110 SpAtk Modest

Blizzard

Mirror coat

Shadow Ball

Wish

Special Wall, Special Sweeper, and it heals. With snow cloak, itís not terrible.

Weavile @ Focus Sash

252 Atk 252 Speed Adamant

Night Slash

Ice Punch

Aerial Ace

Brick Break

Itís supposed to easily sweep at the end, but I usually need it much sooner because itís the only strong physical attacker.

Cresselia @ Nevermeltice

200 HP 100 Def 148 SpDef 62 SpAtk Calm

Ice Beam

Thunder Wave

Reflect

Moonlight

Supports the rest of the team. Pretty straight forward, except that moonlight and hail donít mixÖ.

So thatís my current hail team. What I really need are more strong attackers, and some way to counter weather changes and toxic. Any suggestions?

Ice team master says hai

First thing first Taunt DD Gyara says hi and sets up on Aboma and Rein.

Make Cress a rest talker since it really does not mix with a hail team.
Charge beam/Ice beam/Sleep talk/Rest

Where is the Froslass in here, you really need a good sp sweeper. If a random Skarm carries Steel wing it kills you whole team. Maybe but charge beam on Cress to get rid of this?
